“For me, anyone involved in the national football industry has the right to ask questions (on the subsidy issue) but don’t speculate when asking questions, like, for example, if there is another program. in MFL.
“The MFL has only one program, namely to advance national football. This is MFL’s only program, ”he said at a press conference here today.
He said MFL did not want to delay the payment, but was slightly affected after facing the termination of the sponsorship deal with Telekom Malaysia.
“But we don’t want to use that as a reason or as an excuse (by not giving the grant). Today, MFL has to deliver. There are no two ways about it.
“Either way, we need to deliver this year to ensure that the grants and TV rights money goes to all participating teams. It is the responsibility and the trust that are placed in MFL, ”he added.
He was commenting on claims by some quarterbacks who viewed MFL, as an M League administrator, as having its own agenda by delaying the release of annual grants to all teams.
Tunku Ismail said that given the current situation, there is already a need to seek overseas sponsors to ensure that the domestic football industry continues to grow.
“We need to find overseas sponsors so that MFL can continue to give grants to other teams, and MFL is working hard on this,” he said. Bernama
