Play Notes: If Michigan wins they have a chance to play for their first national title since 1997, if Georgia wins the Bulldogs are one win away from securing their first national title in 1980. It will be a top defenses clash, with the winner against the winner Alabama-Cincinnati.
Georgia are dominated by their ground play and the running back tandem of Zamir White (718 yards and 10 TDs) and James Cook (619 and seven TDs) on offense. The offense is in the top 40 with 442.8 yards per game and 194.9 rushing yards per game. Defense is elite however. The Bulldogs sit second in the Football Bowl subdivision, allowing just 253.9 ypg. The Wolverines’ elite rushing offense (223 YPG) will be tested by a seven front full of NFL talent and only allows 81.7 YPG on the ground (third in the country). Georgia are number one in the country allowing 9.5 points per game and seventh in the country at 39.4 points per game.
