Crimson Tide opens as favorite amid Nick Saban-Jimbo Fisher feud
The drama between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisherman is just beginning. After the two exchanges of jabs and hay in recent media appearances, many have almost forgotten that there will be a football game between Alabama and Texas A&M in five months. While the off-pitch drama centers around NIL issues between the opinions of the two coaches, the line has already come out for their match on October 8. Don’t forget – Texas A&M beat Alabama last season for Fisher’s first victory over Saban.
While the Aggies scored the upset last season, it was at Kyle Field. This year, Alabama is a strong home favorite when the game kicks off at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Based on the first line of DraftKingsthe money is directed to the Crimson Tide. Alabama opened Thursday as a 16.5-point favorite over Texas A&M.
Saban said Wednesday night that Texas A&M bought out its entire 2022 recruiting class that ranked No. 1 in the nation. After those comments — and the backlash that went viral in the hours that followed — Fisher called a press conference to respond. And he didn’t hold back.
“Yeah, I will (answer),” Fisher said. “First of all, I will say it’s a shame that we have to do this. It’s really despicable. It’s despicable. It’s despicable that someone can say things about someone and an organization ( organization) – and, most importantly, 17 year olds. You shoot 17 year olds and their families, (alleging) that they broke state laws, that we bought all the players from this group. We never bought anyone. No rules were broken. Nothing was done wrong. That was it – and the way we do things, the ethics in which we do things, and those families – it’s despicable that a reputable head coach could come out and say this when he’s not getting his way or things aren’t going his way, the narcissist in him doesn’t doesn’t allow these things to happen, and it’s ridiculous when he’s not on top form.
“…And is it personal to us? Yes, it’s personal. It’s personal to A&M, it’s personal to our players, it’s personal to our coaches and everyone involved. And I know the guy – know him very well. It’s amazing that we’re allowed to do these things. It’s really despicable. And I hate it. For our players who come here who did things the right way, did things the right way and will continue to do things the right way, I apologize to you that people publicly insult you the way they do. And our fans, I apologize to you for the people who say these things on Texas A&M. I promise you this – there are no violations. There is nothing wrong. This is the second time we had to do this with grown men who didn’t don’t get what they want and who want to pout and throw a fit and act Just go ask all the working people for him. They know exactly what he is talking about. I will say this – my father always told me this – when people show you who they are, believe them. He shows you who he is.
